This very small park is located in a quiet neighbourhood and just off the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. You'll find a playground and bench here, making it a good pit stop for families exploring the trail.

The Esquimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary spans 134 hectares of tidal waters from the bridge on Ocean Blvd, to Coburg Peninsula west to the side of the lagoon plus 100 meters of the surrounding land. This saltwater lagoon is decorated with driftwood sculptures of birds. Some of the birds that call this area home are the American coot, hooded merganser, black oystercatcher, pacific great blue heron, bufflehead, Eurasian wigeon, horned lark and western meadowlark. So bring your binoculars and keep an eye and ear out for the many brides who hunt and nest here.

Local sculpture artist Paul Lewis made this driftwood welcome sign in 2020. He has other projects on display in the area, including life-sized driftwood mammoths, eagles, and trolls.

The trail dips under a mossy support structure for the bridge above. As elsewhere on the trail, the path is surrounded by trees, so it never feels super urban.

There is a small gravel lot here with space for about five cars. This is a great spot to hop on the Galloping Goose Trail toward Victoria/Colwood or the E&N Rail Trail toward Langford.

The Galloping Goose Regional Trail is a 55-kilometre multi-use path that links downtown Victoria to Leechtown, running through a mix of urban, rural, and forested landscapes. Once a railway corridor, it’s an easy path ideal for walking and cycling along parks, lakes, and quiet back roads. It’s perfect for long-distance rides, scenic day trips, and exploring southern Vancouver Island away from traffic.

The Kinsol Trestle is an old wooden railway bridge. With a length of 187 metres and a height of 44 metres, it is one of the largest and most spectacular bridges of its type. It was built between 1911 and 1920 to transport timber. After the railway connection was closed in 1979, the bridge was no longer maintained, which is why its condition continued to deteriorate. After extensive renovation, it was reopened to pedestrians and cyclists in 2011. The Trans Canada Trail runs over the bridge.
