Cypress Provincial Park rises directly above Vancouver, with more than 30 kilometres of hiking and backcountry trails crossing forest, mountain lakes and the slopes of Hollyburn, Black Mountain and Mount Strachan. Established in 1975, the park changes noticeably with elevation, from Douglas fir and western hemlock lower down to mountain hemlock, amabilis fir and yellow cypress higher up. First Lake is a small man-made lake on Hollyburn Ridge, tucked beside the historic Hollyburn Lodge.
