The castle was built by Ludwig Wolf von Flehingen (1517–1600) and his wife Anna, née Göler von Ravensburg, in 1565, using existing wall sections of a former lower castle. In 1637, ownership passed to Baron Johann Adolf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht. In 1876, it was bought by the municipality of Flehingen. Around 1894, the state of Baden acquired the castle to establish an educational institution there. Today, the castle houses an educational institution and vocational schools.

Since the original historic Martinskirche in the village was transferred to the Protestant community in 1825, the Catholics built their own new church in 1911 at a slightly higher location. The building was erected in the Neo-Romanesque style, and at the same time as the church, the Catholic rectory was also built right next to it, to which a kindergarten was later added. The completion and consecration of the complex took place by 1913.

Located right next to the castle. The town prison used to be here; now it's a museum. The B3 highway runs through the gate here.

A very beautiful section on a good bike path. A visit to Gundelsheim is also worthwhile. It's also not as crowded as some other towns along the Neckar.
