Beautiful views are guaranteed, the path is a bit narrow in places with oncoming traffic, but still worthwhile...

Once you've made it up the hill from Coesfeld, it's worth taking a break here and enjoying the view. You might even find a geocache here.

Alfers Mill (also Alfersmühle) is a dam and former watermill on the Berkel River in the north of the town of Gescher. The mill's location corresponds roughly to the center of the former Harwick farming community in Gescher, and its proximity to the main road to Ahaus, Stadtlohn, and Coesfeld made it conveniently located for the time. The Kommiezenpad consists of four different loops near Winterswijk. You can hike or cycle through the border region and learn all about the area's nature and history. In the past, this area was primarily used for smuggling illegal products across the border, and the trails follow the old smuggling routes. Border stone 788, known as the "St. Vitus Stone," marks the point where the municipalities of Winterswijk (Netherlands), Südlohn, Vreden, and historically also Stadtlohn (Germany) meet.
