Mikalojus Oginskis built a public chapel in Kapčiastys in 1724. In 1744 it is mentioned as a branch. A parish was founded in the second half of the 18th century. In 1777 a parish school was established. Pastor M. Guoga, called to Kapčiamiestis in 1900, began to use Lithuanian in his services. In 1907 a branch of the Žibury Society (president Rev. Juozas Bridžius) set up a library and a reading room. On June 22, 1941, the church burned down. A temporary church was built. In 1956 a new church was built under the care and with the support of pastor Aleksandras Labanauskas (Translated from Wikipedia).
