A magical world of rock formations opens up below the Ochsenkopf summit. One of these granite formations is the Weißmainfelsen with a height of 929 meters. Rock steps of different sizes lead to it. From the viewing plateau at the top you have a beautiful view of the Schneeberg massif with Nußhardt, See Hügel and Schneeberg. The group of rocks with a climbing facility can be reached from Bischofsgrün, from Karches and from Ochsenkopf via marked hiking trails.

Not for nothing one of the most popular destinations in the Fichtelgebirge, whether on foot, by mountain bike or by chairlift, everyone gets their money's worth up here. Access to the Asenturm is free and definitely worth it. From here you have a wonderful view far into the Fichtelgebirge. A visit to the Asenturm restaurant is definitely a good idea, nice terrace and nice service, food and drinks at fair prices. Beautiful photo motifs are the landmark, the summit cross and the Goethefelsen.

The Nußhardt Stube is a cover cave. It is formed from the huge boulders of the Blockmeer on the summit. The entrance to the interior of the Nußhardt Stube is easy to miss. There are only two places where you can squeeze your way inside between the granite blocks.

The loop around the lake is highly recommended. It's about 2.7 kilometers. The water is very boggy and more brown than blue.

On the summit of the Nußhardt, gneiss and granite rocks lie side by side. Individual mighty rock walls and towers stand in wild beauty. The view is gorgeous.

Here, at an altitude of approximately 887 meters, the Weiße Main, one of the two headwaters of the Main river, originates. The spring is designated as a geopoint. In 1717, the spring was enclosed by Johann Caspar Munder, master of the hunt from Bischofsgrün, on behalf of the Margrave Georg Friedrich Carl of Bayreuth. At that time, it was given the name Fürstenbrunnen. The Hohenzollern coat of arms and the Margrave's initials can still be seen on the spring stone today.

At a height of 887 m, the White Main rises on the eastern slope of the Ochsenkopf, also known as the "Princely Fountain". Ever since it was bordered in 1827 with the inscription "Weißmainquelle", the spring has been a welcome stop on the Ochsenkopf ascent. Even Goethe is said to have taken a refreshing drop here, which I was denied during my visit today, as it really only "dribbled".
