The current town hall building in the city of Flensburg was built between 1961 and 1964 and inaugurated in 1965. Some historic buildings from the 19th century were demolished in the surrounding area, primarily to make space for traffic connections and parking. However, a forecourt with a representative entrance that was actually planned was never completed. Due to structural defects, the facade had to be extensively renovated in the 1990s. The view, the prospects to the other bank across the border are a charm of the Gendarmsti. What once had to be controlled and defended, today leaves a feeling of how close everything is.

Bike path on both sides, nice view. A separate bike path would be nicer.

Located directly on the water, you'll enjoy a magnificent view of the Flensburg Fjord and can watch sailboats, some of which depart from the nearby base of the German Offshore Sports Association HANSA (DHH). The waterfront promenade invites you to take a leisurely picnic break or visit a café before continuing on toward Glücksburg or Flensburg city center. A visit to the DHH's long-established yacht schools, where sailors from all over the world have been trained for almost 100 years, is particularly worthwhile.

A cycle path that allows for rapid progress. Underpasses allow you to cross the street several times. North of the eastern bypass, the cycle path merges into normal city traffic.
