The Renaissance building has shaped the valley's landscape since 1627 and was built by General Factor Peter Stein, the lord of miners and quarrymen in Christophstal, as his retirement residence. It is one of the few surviving buildings that survived the great city fires of 1632 and 1945, and the only stepped gable house in Freudenstadt. From the Bärenschlössle, there is a magnificent panoramic view up to Freudenstadt. Directly behind it is a red deer enclosure. Today, the Hofgut Bärenschlössle with its event barn is an ideal venue for weddings, birthdays, Christmas parties, corporate events, etc. Source: https://www.schwarzwald-tourismus.info/attraktionen/freudenstadt-baerenschloessle-9b82394cee

Beautiful and very large medieval castle ruins – clearly visible from afar as a landmark above the town of Nagold. Accessible via various hiking trails through the forest surrounding the Schlossberg. Great views of the Heckengäu, the Black Forest, and, in good weather, even the Swabian Alb. Served on weekends in the summer. Regular events are also held.

The Glatt Water Castle is one of the oldest Renaissance castles in Southern Germany and one of the few surviving moated castles in the state of Baden-Württemberg. But that's not the only reason it's worth making a stop there. The cake slices served here are huge and also super delicious. There is hardly a better place to replenish your carbohydrate stores...

A little hard to find, and unfortunately a little neglected. Very manageable. But still OK as part of the attraction on the Four Castles Trail.

From the valley, the ruins can be reached via a narrow path (somewhat hidden) in 200 meters. It goes up a grassy path. The tower stump walls are overgrown with grass, moss...
