Sudbury Hall is a magnificent 17th-century country mansion. Now managed by the National Trust and rebranded as The Children's Country House, it blends grand Restoration architecture with interactive exhibits, making it a highly engaging, family-friendly destination. Built between 1660 and 1680 by George Vernon, it is considered one of the finest Restoration mansions in the country. Inside, you’ll find exquisite plasterwork, intricate wood carvings (some by Grinling Gibbons), and sweeping classical murals. Unlike traditional stately homes, it is designed to be fully hands-on. Visitors can try period dancing, pose for portraits, or play parlour game The estate features landscaped parkland, ornamental lakes (including a lilypond dating back to 1690), and outdoor woodland play areas.

Great view of the Roaches. Interesting legends / myths about the pool online. Also known as Blakemere Pool.

The church was built between 1860 and 1862 to designs of the architect George Edmund Street, funded by Sir Thomas Percival Heywood, 2nd Baronet. At the same time, Street also designed the lychgate, churchyard cross, vicarage and village school.

This charming little village is located nearby to Ashbourne in Derbyshire. It's nestled in the picturesque countryside of the Peak District and is characterised by historic stone cottages and a rural atmosphere. I'd recommend a stop at The Cock Inn, a beautiful traditional pub serving up food and real ales.

The Ashbourne Tunnel is 350m long; with cyclists friendly surface and it connects Ashbourne town centre with the Tissington Trail. After heavy rains a massive puddle forms just before the tunnel - it's about 8inch deep - perfect for a fast ride through 🌊🚴♀️
