Lovely footpath through the woodland area. Keep an eye out for all sorts of wildlife including deer. Wear good shoes and be aware that it can be muddy here after rain

A pleasant and easy walk from Thirlsey into Thirlsey Wood (or out of). On the way, you should be able to stop an old quarry, most likely an old lime kiln.

A very impressive church, dating back to just after the Norman invasion in the 11th century, although already in the 9th century there was a nunnery here. The highlight is a beautifully carved Anglo-Saxon crossed dated to either late 8th or early 9th century.

It's one of those places which are easily missed... just a little hill with some trees on it?... Think again, this natural hill once (in the 19th century) had a folly called Baron Albert's Tower on it. Additionally, early 20th century excavations suggested that it also used to be a Roman signal tower long before.

A lovely and serene pond, just outside Scarborough. Don't fail to walk out onto the fishing platforms to get a good view - unless they're already occupied by anglers with whom the Mere is quite popular.

These ruins are all that remains of a once fortified house called Pele Tower, built in 1410 by a landowner who had married into de Aton (as in 'Ayton') family.
