Drive slowly and carefully as the local Coos are often meandering around eating the local foliage or having a well earned rest on the paths. Calfs are often in tow at this time of year, a little harder to spot due to there size, but mum is never too far away.

Great cafe and one of the limited options away from Tobermory. I was wild camping with no cooking gear so this place was a life saver for me! Soup, panini, sausage roll and crisps all hit the spot

Approximately halfway between Craignure and Tobermory at the narrowest part of the island. The full name of the settlement is 'Sàilean Dubh Chaluim Chille'. In 1991 it had a population of 500.

Awesome view to the Ardnamurchan peninsula and the islands of Eorsa and Ulva in Loch na Keal. Munro giants (Ben Nevis and co) on the mainland can be seen to the north-east. This is Mull's only Munro and it was actually my first ever Munro. It also makes for a great 'final Munro' due to the novelty/fun of the ferry journey over and the relative ease of the walk in comparison to other Munros.

You'll find options that traverse rugged coastlines, pristine beaches like Calgary Beach, mountainous terrain including Ben More, and lush woodlands such as Aros Park. Yes, Mull is home to several challenging trail runs. For experienced runners, the Ben More, A' Chioch & Beinn Fhada loop from the B8035 is a difficult 9.1-mile route with significant elevation gain through Mull's mountainous interior. Another demanding option is the Burg and Fossil Tree Trail, an 11.6-mile path exploring the wild coastline and cliffs of the Ardmeanach Peninsula.
Absolutely. While Mull is known for its dramatic landscapes, there are also easier routes suitable for beginners or those seeking a more relaxed run. Many coastal areas and forest parks offer flatter, less strenuous options. For example, areas around beaches like Calgary or within Aros Park provide gentler gradients and scenic surroundings.
Mull's running routes often pass by stunning natural features. You can encounter dramatic sea cliffs, white-sand beaches, and the island's only Munro, Ben More. Keep an eye out for waterfalls like the Aros Park Waterfalls or the impressive Eas Fors Waterfall. The Fossil Tree on the Ardmeanach Peninsula is another unique natural monument accessible via a trail.
Yes, several routes offer glimpses of Mull's rich history. The area around Lochbuie features a stone circle, a ruined castle, and a church. While not directly on a running route, the impressive Duart Castle, ancestral home of the MacLeans, has surrounding trails that lead towards the sea. You might also encounter other historical ruins or ancient structures during your runs.
Yes, many of Mull's running trails are designed as circular routes, allowing you to start and finish at the same point. Examples include the challenging Ben More, A' Chioch & Beinn Fhada loop and the more moderate Pottie Loch Nature Reserve – The Keel Row Pub loop from Erraid, which takes you through coastal areas.
