A beautifully designed facade that draws attention to Cologne's cycling legends – a real eye-catcher! Unfortunately, I couldn't find out if the Schmitzebud is ever open – whenever I was there (usually midday to early afternoon, often on weekends), it was always closed. I also couldn't find any current information online 🤷♂️ and the website schmitzebud-koeln.de is currently for sale 🤔

After relaxing at the natural spa, the climb is my personal highlight in this section of the Königsforst forest. From the water treading area to the top of the climb, it's "only" about 700 meters, but the 30-meter elevation gain is definitely noticeable. 800 meters further on, I reach the highest point, and then you can ride really fast again, especially on a bike, to the end of the "old railway path."

The Rösrath-Bensberg connecting route is a busy one. Depending on the time of day, there are many walkers, dog walkers, cyclists, racing cyclists, and e-bike riders. It could be wider and have a better surface.
