Castle ruins are almost my favorite destinations. The complex is still very recognizable. The mighty moat is now filled with leaves. You walk as if through deep snow. The paths to the ruin are all very steep and mostly not well suited for trekking bikes.

A worthwhile climb and a far-reaching look back into the history of the settlement. I find it impressive how the towers were constructed from uneven stones, geometrically and structurally, without computers and using simple tools.

Over the past 20 years, a museum worth seeing has emerged from a ruin here. The chapel (there's an admission charge, and the tour is only in Czech) is a gem. Unfortunately, it's no longer free to climb the tower to ring the "Reconciliation" bell. Yes, even reconciliation isn't free anymore 🤣

Grabštejn (Grafenstein), originally a 13th-century Gothic castle converted into a Renaissance palace in the 16th century, is located near the border triangle of the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland and is a national cultural monument with a rich history. Today, the castle offers several tourist tours, including the St. Barbara Chapel, a Renaissance gem from the second half of the 16th century. The castle's fully furnished interiors will help you discover and experience the special atmosphere of historical periods from the mid-13th century to the 20th century. The castle tower also offers a unique view as far as Zittau (Germany) and Bogatynia (Poland). Highly recommended!
