Promnice Hunting Palace

Highlight • Castle

Hunting Palace in Promnice - a palace from 1861 located in Kobiórze, in the Pszczyna poviat, near the south-western part of Lake Paprocański.
The first palace was erected in this area in the years 1760–1766 by the Promnitz family - the then owners of the Duchy of Pszczyna. The construction was initiated by Jan Adam Promnitz. It was designed by the family's court architect - Jan Jahne from Żary near Żagań. On the site of the Promnitz manor, which was already falling into decay, the Duke of Pszczyna, Hans Heinrich XI Hochberg, had a new residence built - a hunting lodge. In 1861, a building was erected in the English neo-Gothic style with visible German influences according to the design of Olivier Pavelt - the court architect of the Hochbergs.

Tyskie PRINCE'S BREWERY 1629

Highlight • Monument

The brewery was established at the beginning of the 17th century in the manor area belonging to the Promnice family from Pszczyna. It was first mentioned in 1613. Another story about the brewery comes from the town hall of the Pszczyna state from 1629, which, apart from the brewery, also mentions a malt house:
"This farm has extensive brewing rights, you can brew a beer here every week, so it brings a significant benefit. Moreover, the malt house, a brewery with a copper cauldron and all kinds of brewing vessels, can also be very well used for cattle and other needs."
In 1825, Pszczyna, so far the capital of the Free State of State, became a principality, and in 1861, Jan Henryk XI Hochberg, the prince of Pszczyna, took over the farm and brewery from Promnice, and in the same year began to build a new and modern plant with a brewhouse and a cold store , a malt house, a mill, a drying plant and an ice house.

Around Lake Paprocany

Highlight (Segment) • Lake

Paprocańskie Lake (also Paprocany Lake, German Paprotzaner See) - a water reservoir located in the south-western part of Tychy. It is an artificial reservoir built for the needs of Huta Paprocka in 1796. In the years 1986–1992, reclamation measures were carried out in the reservoir, consisting in the complete drainage of the reservoir, removing the mud and lowering the bottom soil by 0.5 m on an area of 110 ha. Currently, it serves as a recreation and retention facility, acting as a flood protection cover for the south-eastern districts of the city.
The area of the lake is 132 ha, the average depth ranges from 150 to 190 cm. The lake is surrounded by forests - the GOP forest protection zone. The waters of Lake Paprocańskie are fed by Stara Gostynka and small forest watercourses flowing from the south. The catchment area of the lake is 20.4 km². The topography near the banks is not very diversified. In the backwater section, marshy areas have developed, constituting a refuge for waterfowl. The lake acts as a recreational reservoir of the 1st class of purity. Its dam protects the Gostynka valley from flooding, and the waters drained from the lake are used to reduce the pollution level of the river. The capacity of the lake is 1.65 million m³, including the total flood reserve of 2.45 million m³. The water level is at the ordinate of 242.0 m, its depth does not exceed 2.50 m, only in the old Gostynka riverbed you can find deeper water up to approx. 3.5 m. Water discharge from the reservoir, through the drainage channel, varies between 0.12–8.50 m³ / s.
The length of the Paprocańskie Lake is approx. 2 km, while the width at its widest point is approx. 0.5 km.

Palace and park complex

Highlight • Historical Site

The palace in Tychy was erected in 1685 as a hunting manor of the Pszczyna princes from the Promnitz family. In the years 1766–1782 the prince of Pszczyna, Friedrich Erdmann von Anhalt-Köthen-Pleß, commissioned its extension, which gave the building the form of a palace residence.
After the construction of the hunting lodge in Promnice, the functions of the palace in Tychy decreased and it was handed over to the forestry office. In the 19th century, the Hochbergs founded the Browarniany Park around the facility, which gained a cultural and recreational function.

PUB at the Brewery Museum

Highlight • Pub

A very interestingly arranged Museum of Tychy Brewing. You can see many souvenirs there and see a 3D movie. After visiting the museum, the trip moves to the premises of the plant, where you can see how beer is produced in Tychy. Finally, in the pub, located in the museum's basement, adults can personally taste the golden drink, which is usually much better than what we can normally buy in a store.
At the moment (May 2021) there is quite a major renovation and until further notice it is impossible to see these attractions live.
It is best to search the website for information on when the tours will be resumed.

Well, the graduation tower is probably not a monument to the victims.

The combination of English Neo-Gothic architecture with Swiss-style architecture produced a remarkable effect. The palace, built of brick and wood, has three stories. The octagonal tower is topped with a pointed dome. The building's form is embellished by numerous bay windows, attics, and turrets. The interior is highly ornate, with intricately carved paneling, stained-glass windows, and paintings making an impression. A spiral staircase in the vestibule attracts attention, while a tiled stove in the Fireplace Room displays hunting trophies. Hunting trophies hang on the walls. In front of the palace stands a historic sculpture of St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. After being converted into a hotel, the hunting lodge has regained its former glory. Noma Hotel Residence is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful properties of its kind in Poland. This reputation is all the more justified by the hotel's charming location – it is surrounded by a park and the waters of Lake Paprocańskie. Promnice takes its name from the Promnitz family – Silesian nobility who ruled the Pszczyna estate from the mid-16th to the mid-18th century. After their death, the estate passed into the hands of the Anhalt family. It was a member of this family who built the first hunting lodge in the Pszczyna Forest. However, the time of greatest prosperity came with the takeover of Pszczyna by the Hochberg family, aristocrats considered part of the elite of the German Reich.
