Żelazny has already formed an opinion. A sensationally prepared and routed road on the Polish side makes it a must-see for a bicycle tourist.
Personally, I suggest at least two visits: in spring - when green Silesia wakes up with a thousand shades of green, and in autumn - you probably already know why...

Prince Władysław built a chapel here dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, where services were held for the prince residing in Gołkowice and his court. In the 17th century, this chapel was already in ruins, so in 1687 a new chapel was built. Saint Anna's mother. In the 1870s, this church was very damaged. It was impossible to repair it, and Protestant Petsch, the then owner of Gołkowice, was not interested in its renovation. However, thanks to the efforts of the parish priest of Godów, Antoni Abendroth, to whose parish the Gołkowice church belonged, and Józef Grzonka, a saddleman from Gołkowice, renovation work began. However, the church's beams were so rotten that they completely fell apart and the church collapsed. So it was decided to rebuild it. At the beginning, a tower was built, which was obtained from the church of St. Nicholas, which was being demolished at that time. Saint Anna in Pruchna. As there were no funds for such a large investment as the construction of a church, a collection was carried out, thanks to which 6,000 marks were obtained (2,000 from the bishop's collection and 4,000 from people's voluntary donations). In 1878, a wooden church dedicated to St. was built here. Anna, which was a branch of the Godów church until 1957. This church was built without the consent of the church authorities. The faithful of Gołkowice tried to have their church assigned an independent pastor. This is what happened, and on April 10, 1955, the current vicar from Godów - Fr. Izydor Myśliwiec. Two years later, on December 1, 1957, Bishop Stanisław Adamski established an independent pastoral station in Gołkowice located in the Wodzisław deanery. The administrator of the current exhibition was Fr. Izydor Myśliwiec.

In 1981, the Skrbeńsko parish was separated from part of Gołkowice. The parish in Gołkowice was established on April 11, 1985. In the same year, construction of a new church began, the design of which was prepared by architect Michał Kuczmiński. The finished church was consecrated on November 15, 1986. Because the new church received the title of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the current parish has a double name. In the spring of 1987, the construction of catechetical rooms began. Their consecration took place on September 18, 1988. In 1996, the organ that had previously been used in the church was brought to the church. Saint Cecilia in Düsseldorf.

Iron Cycling Trail

The whole route is very nice and quite well marked, unfortunately only on the Polish side. It is much worse in the Czech Republic and it is marked on the existing roads, not specially designed for bicycles.

Wooden Church of Golkowice

Highlight • Religious Site

The present church stands on the site of the previous one, which was pulled down due to its poor technical condition. In 1873, the tower was acquired for the new church from the gothic church in Pruchna (also under the invocation of St. Anna), which was being dismantled at that time. In 1877, concrete foundations for the church were laid and its walls began to be erected. The following year the church was ready.

Solid, packed gravel. Whenever I drove there, it was always very windy (which is typical of such places), which makes driving quite difficult.

A very well-prepared trail. A place for a short rest and a repair point.

A fantastic route. The Polish side is superbly prepared, the Czech side a bit less so, but there's no point complaining.

There are five rest areas along the section of the route that runs along the former tracks, including one covered one in Jastrzębie-Zdrój Szotkowice. The central point of the trail is the Green Bridge Station – a recreation area located near the bridge over Professor Ranoszka Street and the Szotkówka River. In Gołkowice, the trail passes the historic wooden Church of St. Anne, and in Karviná, it passes a historic palace and church.

The mayor of the Godów commune came up with a cool idea, without him this section wouldn't have been built..
