Wojanów Palace

Highlight • Castle

Schildau Castle was first mentioned in 1281 as a knight's fief, and over the centuries it has been repeatedly expanded and rebuilt. Like many others, this castle was nationalized after 1945 and used for many years as an administrative building for a farm and as a holiday home. It fell into disrepair in the 1990s and finally burned down in 2002. A limited liability company has owned the castle since 2004, renovated it, and converted it into a hotel, restaurant, and conference center.

Lomnica Palace

Highlight • Castle

There was already a moated castle on the site of Łomnica Castle in the Middle Ages. In the 1720s it was converted into a baroque castle and in the following centuries it was further converted and expanded under various owners. After 1945 the castle was expropriated, nationalized and used as a school until 1972. After that it fell into ruin.

The grandson of the last owner bought it back together with a Polish partner in the early 1990s. This was followed by the widow's house and part of the park. The castle is now used for cultural events and educational purposes and the widow's house houses a hotel and restaurant.

On the other side of the street are the old domain buildings. Here you will also find a very nice restaurant as well as some shops selling linen or local specialties.

A fantastic castle built on solid rock, a beautiful site in any season. It commands respect for those who built it in the 14th century (yes, over 600 years ago!)

There are many walls left from the building itself, which together with the high rocks create a fairy-tale atmosphere. On the castle grounds you will also find stairs leading to the upper parts of the ruins. One of the places serves as a viewpoint, from which you can see the Sokoliki, characteristic of Rudawy.

Five years ago there was a small stall here. But even so, the rest area with tables and benches and a view of the Heinrichsburg is very nice.
