On September 28, 1939, a reserve unit of the 14th Infantry Division of the Poznań Army was disarmed here by the Bolshevik Russian army, with the help of local Jews. Approximately 40 officers and cadets were taken prisoner and murdered by the Soviet NKVD in Katyn in April and May 1940. Among the thousand names on the "Katyn list" are those directly linked to Tarnogród, including Major Kazimierz Kraczkiewicz – one of the pioneers of Polish balloon aviation – as well as Second Lieutenant Edmund Seroka, Lieutenant Arkadiusz Koźmiński, and Senior Constable Feliks Radomski.

Monument in honor of the victims of the peasant strike in 1937, in which 15 people died. The difficult situation in the countryside during the pre-war period meant that members of the People's Party, led by their leader Wincenty Witos, were harassed and imprisoned for defending their rights. This forced Witos to leave Poland. This did not discourage the peasants of Majdan, who remained in constant contact with their leader and who, after he and the Congress of the People's Party decided to initiate the Peasant Strike (August 16-25, 1937), implemented it in their area. On its last day, when a large crowd of peasants was preparing to submit a petition to the state authorities, a tragedy occurred. The Blue Police used weapons against them. 15 people died on the spot, including a young child. To commemorate this event, on the 50th anniversary in August 1987, a monument was erected at the site of the tragedy, by the road in the center of the village, depicting a man with raised hands protecting a mother with a dying child. Church of St. Paraskeva – a historic Greek Catholic church located in Dąbrowica, built in 1906. In 1948, the church was taken over by the Roman Catholic Church. It serves as a branch church of St. Michael the Archangel of the Kolonia Polska parish. The church is an example of brick church architecture, created as a result of searching for a Ukrainian national style based on classical patterns.
