Designed in 1969 by Witold Cichacz and executed by the artist with the assistance of Henryk Krakowiak, the mosaic was commissioned by the authorities of the newly opened higher education institution – the Higher School of Engineering (now the University of Zielona Góra), whose patron was Yuri Gagarin. It was intended to commemorate the summer visit to the city of the first man in space in 1961. It was created on the stepped wall of the auditorium, which crowned the over 140-meter-tall building situated on a hill. Stretching out in a plane, it became the dominant feature of the structure. The mosaic depicts the head of a Russian cosmonaut orbiting concentric "sun-like" circles spreading out from a centrally located sphere. Today, its scope and composition remain astonishing.

In addition to the fountain, there's a beautiful monument at this location, although it's not as beautiful as the old one. There's also a playground there, and it's more suitable for small and medium-sized children.

The Odra Loop is a picturesque cycling route along the Odra River, ideal for cycling and nature lovers. The trail offers views of wild nature, backwaters and forests, and also passes through charming towns with monuments and rest areas. The route is well marked and suitable for trekking and cross bikes. It is worth taking provisions and water, because some sections lead through less urbanized areas. The best time to ride is in spring and summer, when the landscapes are at their most beautiful.

It's worth going there. The view of the Oder and its former river bed is wonderful. However, the climb is not the easiest, it is a route more suitable for MTB than road cyclists. I used Komoot navigation and got there flawlessly.
