Black Oak Sculpture of Christ at Chociński Mill The Chociński Mill boasts a unique attraction – a sculpture of the Crucified Jesus, carved from black oak by artist Jakub Orpiszewski. This impressive work of art was erected along a picturesque bike path towards Konarzynki, surrounded by the forests of the Przymuszewo Forest District. The sculpture, measuring 3 meters wide and 3.5 meters high, was crafted from over 2,000-year-old wood imported from southern Poland. This unique material, called Polish ebony, is characterized by a deep, dark color, imbued with special chemical processes occurring in the wood over the centuries. The artist devoted three months to this work, the work depicts the figure of Christ in its full glory and is an excellent example of sculptural craftsmanship. The sculpture also accompanies two panels with quotations from Holy Scripture, which have profound spiritual significance. The entire piece is a wonderful symbol of God's presence in the daily life of the local community. It is not only a tourist attraction but also a space for rest, contemplation, and reflection, a testament to the spiritual needs of the residents of Chociński Młyn. The sculpture took three days to assemble, and it weighs approximately 1.5 tons. If you're looking for a place that combines art, history, and spirituality, the sculpture at Chociński Młyn is the perfect place to visit.

A roadside shrine connected to a rest area along the "Kashubian Route" cycling route features a sculpture of the crucified Christ by Jakub Orpiszewski. Black oak is wood that has been in the ground or water for several thousand to even several dozen thousand years. It contains tannins, which react with iron salts present in the water or soil, changing the wood's color to a characteristic navy-black hue. More information about this sculpture can be found on the Chojnice24 website (Christ from the Black Oak - Chojnice24.pl https://share.google/CHd9kpdIrdiLcEbOz)

Provided that we consider Charzykowy as Kashubia... In my opinion, it is still the Człuchów Lake District, bordering the Tuchola Forest (Borowszczyzna). It does not detract from the charm of this place. I will return there soon.
