With the high castle towering far above the bastions and walls and the grand master's palace, the Marienburg (Malbork) still impresses its viewers today. The builder was the Teutonic Order, which the Polish Duke Conrad of Mazovia brought into the country in 1225 in the fight against the pagan Pruzzi. Malbork Castle, which rises on an embankment on the right bank of the Nogat, is the world's largest brick castle. Its fortifications cover an area of 20 hectares.

July 21, 2026, Żelisławki–Sobowidz Rail Trail

This trail is an absolute gem, but little known. Beautifully situated - the views of the surroundings (gentle hills, fields) are soothing. It's worth riding on it - also with children, because the inclines are gentle! It's a shame it's so short. Maybe one day we'll see an extension to the west? And unfortunately, after a few years, the lack of budget for its maintenance becomes apparent. The sides are slowly overgrown with grass, and trees and bushes are hugging it ever tighter (as of July 2026). Hey owner municipalities - it's easier to maintain than to rebuild later! You know such a simple rule yourselves...

A place of numerous meetings, shows, concerts, and street performances for the delight of tourists. A town square with a fountain in the shape of a knight's shield with swords, referring to medieval history. The main attraction of this place is the fountain. Water flows from almost 50 jets and "dances" to the rhythm of selected sounds. The colorful water jets provide a unique show, especially after dark. In summer, every Friday and Saturday, the historical shows of the fountain can be heard. This interesting, half-hour performance presents the history of Malbork. https://de.visitmalbork.pl/1156,Tanzender-bunter-Springbrunnen.html

The St. Adalbert Bridge (Most im. św. Wojciecha) spans the Nogat River and leads you with the very best panoramic views of Marienburg Castle to the largest brick castle in the world. It connects the modern promenade (Bulwar im. Macieja Kilarskiego) on the city side directly with the castle grounds.

Stop to enjoy the view. Then nice snacks and drinks are provided at a small market after the bridge.

The centre of Malbork is primarily the Teutonic castle, the largest brick fortress in the world, listed on the UNESCO list. In the area you will also find a market square with a historic town hall and tenement houses, as well as a promenade with numerous cafes and restaurants. In the season, it is worth setting aside more time for a walk along the boulevard on the Nogat River, from where there is a great view of the castle. For cyclists, a good solution is to leave your bike at the castle, because the tour takes place on foot and lasts several hours.
