Birch Pond

Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Kochcice. Consecrated in 2022 by Bishop Jan Kopiec. Inside, a copy of the painting of the Heart of Jesus by the Italian painter Pompeo Batoni from 1760. The painting is the prototype for all later paintings of the Sacred Heart. The original is in Rome in the church of Il Gesu. In the main altar, a stone from Golgotha from Jerusalem is kept in a reliquary. Side altars are dedicated to Mary with an icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and a stone from the grotto of the Annunciation from Nazareth, and to St. Joseph. In the windows, among others, stained glass windows depicting the twelve apostles by Ireneusz Franusik from Nakło Śl. Stations of the Cross with illuminated glass paintings. The paintings are copies of the stations of the cross from the Armenian Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Jerusalem.

Krywałd is located deep in the forests of the Lubliniec poviat in the Koszęcin commune. It is located near the village of Brusiek. It is a beautiful and very picturesque place, eagerly visited in the spring and summer season by tourists, cyclists, scouts and foresters. The small panew river flows through the very center of Krywałd. Krywałd was permanently inhabited by about 17 people and the settlers of this small forest village were tasked with obtaining steel in a specially built fresh mill (fryszer). This process was to purify the steel by oxidizing it. According to some sources, the families of settlers lived in Krywałd until 1997.

The first mention of the Lubliniec castle comes from 1397, when the castle belonged to prince Władysław Opolczyk. The Dukes of Opole and Racibórz ruled the lands of Lubliniec for several centuries. After the death of Duke Jan Dobre, his principality, together with Lubliniec, was in the hands of the Habsburgs ruling Bohemia. The castle in Lubliniec, along with the city and its surroundings, was leased. He then changed tenants several times, until finally, in 1587, it was acquired by Jan Kochcicki (he had been leasing the castle since 1576). The castle was then thoroughly rebuilt into one of the Kochcicki family seats. The position was established by Count Ballestrem in 1904-1906. At that time, he was building a palace in Kochcice, and the bushes planted here were probably to be moved to the palace park. For unknown reasons, the bushes were left in the place of the nursery. And so they have been preserved to this day, surrounded by a pine forest. At the turn of May and June, every year in the center of the Lasy nad Górną Liswarta Landscape Park, in the forest between Pawełki and Lubock, you can admire beautifully flowering rhododendrons.
