Wieskapelle „To the Flagellated Saviour“ On the road between Mettenbach and Oberrohrenbach, in the middle of the forest, on a clearing, stands the Wieskapelle. The origins of the Rococo chapel date back to 1745. The seamstress Katharina Krenzinger acquired an image of „the flagellated Saviour on the Wies“ from a peddler. On October 4, 1745, she had a carpenter set the image into a beech tree not far from the path to Oberröhrenbach. Since the miracle of tears on June 14, 1738, at Wieshof near Steingaden, the pilgrimage to the miraculous image of the flagellated Saviour gained increasing popularity throughout Bavaria, Bohemia, and Austria. In 1754, the episcopal ordinariate permitted the construction of the present chapel and the erection of an altar. The Enlightenment and secularization gradually led to the decline of the pilgrimage. The church building, erected in 1754 and oriented eastward, has a nave with two bays; the slightly recessed, single-bay choir ends in a round shape. Directly on the roof of the sanctuary sits the small bell tower with its onion dome. The building structure is divided by pilasters and the original fiddleback windows. The portal is framed by pilasters and crowned by a broken pediment. A small opening in the door allows a glimpse into the interior of the Wieskapelle. The late Baroque, marbled altarpiece consists of four slanted columns. The altarpiece depicts the flagellated Saviour, which is still venerated today as a miraculous image. In 1906, it was removed and kept in the St. Veit Church until it returned to its original place in 1979 after thorough restoration. The upper part of the altarpiece contains an image of the Sorrowful Mother. The Baroque chancel arch crucifix takes the place of the Rosary Madonna; to the left of the chancel arch is a statue of the Heart of Mary, and to the right is a richly clothed plaster copy of the Altötting miraculous image. In 1989, the Way of the Cross, made of reverse glass painting, was donated. Of the once rich votive offerings, only a crutch remains in the choir today; everything else was stolen in 1973. The bell in the chapel's small bell tower was cast in 1761 and is still rung by hand today. Today, the Wieskapelle is a quiet place of contemplation and prayer, which is gladly visited by the faithful from the surrounding area. In addition to the hotel, there is also a restaurant with a garden. Events are held regularly (e.g., garden days, medieval festivals). The castle is also popular for weddings and family celebrations.

There's usually a bench in front of the church inviting people to sit down. It's not there right now. But a pile of wood nearby will do.

The Schlosshotel Neufahrn is located near the city of Landshut, in the heart of Lower Bavaria. The castle was first mentioned in the 14th century. At that time it was still a mansion. After an eventful history, it was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, rebuilt by the Haunsperger family and thus got the face you can still see today. It has been owned by the Beer family since 1990 and they warmly welcome you to the Schlosshotel.
