I haven't been hiking Little Mountain Park in Mount Vernon, Washington as much as I used to but I turn to it when the weather gets wet, snowy or icy and today was one of those days. Multiple trail systems for hiking or mountain biking cover over 13 miles of trails. Some are easy and some are nearly vertical, something for everyone.

The lodge at Hillcrest Park is used many times during the year. It is a beautiful log lodge, gorgeous on the inside, as it is outside, too. Every year in April during Skagit Valley's monthlong tulip festival, local service clubs smoke fresh-caught salmon outside the lodge, and the clubs provide a salmon dinner to help raise money for local causes. The lodge is large enough for many groups to use it throughout the year, with space for dining and entertaining.
