Brauerei Murau The history of the Murauer Brauerei's brewery house as a pub and restaurant dates far back into the fifteenth century. The parent house of the Murauer Brauerei has been located here on Raffaltplatz in Murau since 1495. In 1994, the house was completely renovated and expanded – a 4-star hotel with a restaurant was created – the Brauhaus Murau. When the Murauer Brauerei was looking for new tenants for the Brauhaus in Murau, Fritz Wassermann had the opportunity to fulfill a long-cherished dream. Having grown up above a restaurant, Fritz Wassermann combines joie de vivre, coziness, and enjoyment with gastronomy. His years of experience as a manager, as well as his passion and long-held dream of running a hotel, make Fritz Wassermann the ambitious operator of the Murauer Brauerei's brewery house. His motto is: Eating well and drinking cozily keep body and soul together. Since the beginning of 2019, the „Brauhaus zu Murau“ has been run with full passion by Fritz Wassermann. He is supported by his family. Among them is his life partner Waltraud Dullnigg, who dedicates every free minute with joy to the Brauhaus zu Murau alongside her main professional activity. Fritz Wassermann's daughter, Carmen Dröscher, actively assists him as an executive assistant. Daughter Sandra Bacher, as well as sons-in-law Armin and Gerald, are always available to support the Brauhaus zu Murau in addition to their various main professional activities. Fritz Wassermann's grandchildren, Emelie, Valerie, and Jonas, are also enthusiastic Brauhaus fans and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the brewery house. The Mariensäule stands on a hexagonal square, bordered by a low, wrought-iron grille, on a high pedestal. On a round column stands the statue of St. Mary Immaculata. In the corners stand the six plague saints. The Mariensäule was not changed during the renovation work on Schillerplatz. However, the plague saints were re-erected and the wrought-iron grille was renovated. Text / Source: Murau, Raffaltplatz 10, 8850 Murau https://www.murau.gv.at/mariensaule.html

In the middle of the square stands the Marian column with St. Maria Immaculata. It was erected in 1717 after a plague oath in 1715. Around the column are the statues of the six plague saints Sebastian, Rochus, Joseph, Franz Xavier, Karl Borromäus and Antonius. A beautiful wrought iron grille from 1736 runs around the ensemble.
