A very special place for anyone who is traveling around the world: the Antimeridian, which is 180° East and West at the same time, opposite the meridian which runs through Greenwich.

a breathtakingly beautiful route through the rainforest-rich hinterland of Fiji. There is no highway here anymore, there really isn't much going on on the road and it is wonderfully asphalted and mostly brand new. Dogs are very reserved

May 24, 2026, Road to the Antimeridian (180°E/180°W)

A very special place for anyone who is traveling around the world: the Antimeridian, which is 180° East and West at the same time, opposite the meridian which runs through Greenwich. The community of Taveuni built a small memorial for it. To find it, turn into the road up the hill in the direction of the hospital. As soon as you reach a rugby field to your right, walk right along the field. You will find the little memorial there. Taveuni is one of the very few places where you can stand on the actual Antimeridian since most of it runs in the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy this special moment!

Jetty to paradise? So seemingly unique in Fiji. The Coral Coast is also a dream from the beach, but here a public jetty has been built into the dreamy blue. Parking lot and small local snack stands with coconuts and pineapples at the beginning of the jetty. Popular with tourists and locals alike

One of the most beautiful things to do in Taveuni, if not all of Fiji. In Lavena you pay $30 entrance fee. You can also go to the toilet and change there. I would recommend outdoor sandals or water-compatible trail shoes. Then the Coastal Walk starts in the village and then follows the coast with breathtaking views of the sea. After a small, safe river crossing (see pictures), the path branches off to the right inland. It goes along a small river on a fairly easy path until you see the Wainibau waterfall. But you have to swim to get to it. The water is pleasantly cool and crystal clear, but it gets very deep up to the waterfall. However, you can hold onto the rocks on the side and sit on them (or climb up and jump into the pool from the side of a smaller waterfall). I think the pictures speak for themselves! A must do in Taveuni
