Oh, what a lovely experience! We recently came to this inn, which had been recommended to us by friends. When we arrived, we were immediately offered a freshly cooked and delicious soup, which tasted absolutely delicious! After the soup, the innkeeper's son came by with a tray full of cakes. Such a sweet temptation, we just couldn't resist! The innkeepers are truly old-school, such friendly people! They greeted us with a warm handshake and immediately created a comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant is located in a magical area, perfect for hiking or cycling. You can also easily get there by car, but I recommend taking in the scenery while walking or cycling. The innkeeper's wife, husband, and son are not only friendly, but also extremely child-friendly. There were high chairs and toys for the little ones, and they even prepared special meals for the kids so they could get their food faster. This makes things a lot easier when the parents are hungry too! The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and everything tastes delicious!

The "Black Kitchen" in Pierreith A living example of rural architectural culture The Pierreith House is known far beyond its borders as the "Black Kitchen" – but the name, which refers only to the kitchen, hardly does justice to the historic building. Dating back to the late 17th century, the house is designed in the form of a classic farmyard and is today considered an impressive testament to rural architecture, craftsmanship, and lifestyle. Particularly striking is the Hergottswinkel (Hergottswinkel) with its crucifix and floral decorations – lovingly decorated on holidays. The well-thought-out room layout follows a principle of sustainable use: A corridor separated heated from unheated areas. The central open fireplace – both cooking area and oven – warmed both the kitchen and the adjoining living room. Chickens once scratched beneath the hearth, and the bedrooms were located above the stable, where the rising warmth from the cattle and pigs provided a sense of comfort. Until 2003, the "Schwarze Kuchl" (Black Kitchen) was a popular snack bar and a frequently photographed postcard motif. Today, the building is available as a research object for those interested in architecture and local history.

The small St. Hubertus Chapel is picturesquely situated on the edge of the forest above St. Michael am Bruckbach and is dedicated to St. Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters. It is a quiet place of contemplation with a special atmosphere – especially during the atmospheric mountain masses, which are usually celebrated in June and September. It can be reached in several ways: on foot via the 4th stage of the "Heart of the Mostviertel" circular hiking trail https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2346580792 – or by bike or car via the Voralpenstraße road from St. Michael. A quiet spot with a panoramic view – ideal for a rest.

If you're looking for a taste of authentic Mostviertel hospitality while traveling, the Wendtner Country Inn in Wiesenreith is the perfect place. Family-owned for generations, the farm pampers its guests in a rustic atmosphere – whether in the cozy parlor, dining room, hall, or shady garden. Chef Maria Wendtner cooks with heart and soul: down-to-earth cuisine, regional ingredients, and many products directly from the farm's own suckler cow farm. Simply honest, simply good! 🔗 www.gasthaus-wendtner.at

Even though it's probably a lot more comfortable at the hut a few meters further down, a detour here is definitely worth it. The view from here is completely different to that at the hut, and there's also a summit book!

A destination for all seasons! With a dream view and a lovingly designed hut. It's a great place to spend some time. But it's still worth visiting the summit of Freithofberg, which is about 200 meters away. There's also a summit book there.
