April 15, 2023, Liggett South Trailhead

This trailhead is a great spot to start both the Lake Vista Trail and the Augie Trail Phase 1, which is just down the street and lacks its own trailhead. The trailhead connects to the northern Liggett Road parking lot via a short easy trail that runs the length of the isthmus between Blue Springs Lake and Lake Jacomo. There are picnic tables and a grassy area open to visitors.

The trail along the lake to the east and west of the parking lot makes for excellent sunset views as the sun sets across the lake.

This is the trailhead parking for the Augie Trail Loop. Phase one of the Augie Trail connects to the loop near the trailhead. Hikers or bikers looking to complete the full Augie Trail can park up by Liggett Road and hike down to the loop section. The trail is a forested single-track dirt path which occasionally winds its way through large striated rock formations. Views of the lake are best had in colder months when the leaves from the trees don't obscure the water.
