Cycle path around Lake Dümmer

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Lake Dümmer is an attractive destination for everyone in every season. In spring, during the breeding season, the ox bog, which is part of the western Dümmerniederung nature reserve, is a destination for ornithologists and nature photographers. In summer the lake invites you to swim and stroll. If you are looking for peace and nature, you should go around the lake in autumn, hiking, running or cycling. In crisp, cold winters, the lake invites you to cross on ice skates. A rare pleasure!

Hoffmann Eel & Trout Smokehouse

Highlight • Restaurant

Located directly on the Dümmer and the Olgahafen, this fish shack is the burner of the region around the Dümmer. It's pretty much always busy here. Well, in Corona times that doesn't sound so attractive. But the food is delicious, the ambience is neat and
everything from eel to ice cream is included.
So let's go!

Schweger Mill

Highlight • Monument

Of all the mills I got to know in northwest Germany, the operation here, at the Schweger Mühle, is the most impressive. Because on Sundays, when work is usually resting, the local association “Herrlichkeit Dinklage” becomes active here. The mill has been turning its blades in the wind again since 1994 and is the only windmill in the Vechta district to grind grain into flour. Then the bakery next door gets a lot to do with baking brown, wholemeal and country bread. Oven-fresh butter cake can be enjoyed and there is a cafe next door in the Göpelhaus. So there's a lot going on around the Schweger Mühle on Sundays.
More than 170 years ago, in 1849, the 27-meter-high gallery Dutchman was completed by the two Dinklangers Bäukens and Schulte, which is why it is also called "Bäukens Möhl".
You can find out more about the history here:

I hope you enjoy visiting the Schweger Mühle,

The old narrow bridge now only serves as a weir. A new bike-friendly bridge has been built here.

Since 2024 there has been a new, wider bridge over the Hunte. Now oncoming traffic is no longer a problem. The old bridge remains as the weir for regulating the Hunte's water is still in operation. However, the weir is no longer accessible to visitors.
