Totally beautifully located castle and for the most part, the park is freely accessible.

Sätrastrandsbadet is a classic lakeside spot on Lake Mälaren, perfect for families and active visitors. It features a long sandy beach, large grassy areas, an outdoor gym, volleyball courts, and grill spots. There’s also a kiosk where you can get snacks, and a ramp making the shoreline accessible for wheelchairs. The relaxed vibe makes it ideal for a swim, a picnic or just chilling by the water.

In this place there once stood a main attraction of Drottningholms English park. Gustav III’s Italian inspired labyrinth built in 1783-84. The hedges have since deteriorated and were replaced with flower beds. You can either take your time and enjoy the full trip or take a shortcut from the beginning straight to the center. Here you will be greeted by a statue of Ares. The full trip is ~2,5km long and takes approximately 30min. About halve-way through it will seem as if you were spat out at the beginning but don’t worry the outer flowerbeds are simply missing. Take a right turn, stay on the mossy path within the younger trees and just continue. You will be lead back into the labyrinth about a quarter circumference later.

As in Stockholm Palace, the changing of the guard is a wonderful ceremony; it takes place daily at 12:15 p.m., free of charge but without a band.

The Palace Park The extensive park surrounding the palace is divided into different areas. The Baroque garden, laid out in the French style, impresses with its symmetrical patterns and carefully trimmed hedges. The English Garden, on the other hand, is more openly designed and invites exploration with its picturesque paths and hidden statues. You can explore the park at your leisure during a leisurely stroll. (Source: https://go2stockholm.de/sehenswuerdigkeiten/schloss-drottningholm/#Zur_Geschichte_von_Schloss_Drottningholm)

We arrived by boat. This is certainly ideal for a frontal perspective. Otherwise, it can be photographed from either side, along the riverbank, or from the palace gardens. Every perspective has something...
