This is a nice stretch of the 28-mile River Front Trail. As the name suggests, this trail follows the Colorado River, but it also passes through or bay a number of nice lakes, ponds, and parks, making it a great choice for a relaxing waterside ride.

Las Colonias Park is a lovely riverside spot along the Colorado River and the Riverfront Trail. You’ll find picnic shelters, restrooms, a dog park, playgrounds, and an amphitheater that hosts concerts and events. Take a moment to explore the butterfly-shaped pond or rent a kayak or paddleboard nearby. Swimming isn’t allowed in the ponds, but it’s a great place to relax and enjoy some fresh air before getting back on your ride. You can also access the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens right from the park.

Mack, a small town situated 10 miles east of the Colorado/Utah border, sits at an elevation of 4,521 feet. Known for hosting the Country Jam music festival, the town was named after John W. Mack, a man in the asphalt business. There's not much here in terms of being able to buy a snack so come prepared with your own meal.

The lake boasts a nice trail that encircles it between the Colorado River. It derives its name from the Blue Heron birds that frequent this area due to the shallow shores in the area.

Although the dirt jumps are gone (like in the image) Brown Cycles still remains. The shop, owned and operated by Chris Brown, is arguably the best bike shop in Grand Junction. Their service is impeccable, selection of bikes and accessories are always top notch, and the customer service is outstanding. The shop is full of bicycle memorabilia and the owner is extremely passionate about bikes and ensuring others have a good time on bikes. They do offer rentals ranging from road bikes to mountain bikes and their used bike selection is quite unique. While this is a business, Chris makes everyone who stops by feel like family.
