The island of Vilm is a German island in the Baltic Sea and lies off the south coast of Rügen in the Greifswalder Bodden, near the town of Putbus or Lauterbach, located on Rügen. It is a true natural pearl and belongs to the Insel Vilm nature reserve. The island is 2.5 kilometers long and with an area of 0.94 km², it offers an impressive diversity of coastal forms and is home to a rich flora and fauna. The last major logging took place in 1527.
