The preserved Romanesque section of the tower is constructed of tuff. It is structured by vertical pilasters connected by ascending and descending round-arch friezes. The central panel is terminated by a rectangular frieze. A round-arch portal is located on the west side.

One of the few opportunities to do something like a mountain tour. From Oekhoven in the direction of Neurath (the bike path is unfortunately in poor condition) but then follow the bike path signs. Continue towards Frimmersdorf. Shortly before the "Zur Wassermühle" junction, a narrow road leads uphill to the Vollratherhöhe.

The Neurath power plant was built between 1972 and 1976 and expanded in 2012. It has a gross capacity of approximately 4400 MW and consists of seven blocks. All in all a yesterday's, but very strong impression. The landscape along the Erft is strongly influenced or even affected by the infrastructure of the opencast mine. Everywhere high-voltage lines and conveyor systems, fences and factory gates. At some point we might look at it like the Zollverein colliery.
