The Süsel Water Ski & Wakeboard Park, with its three 5-mast lifts, a System 2.0, and a total of 14 features, is one of the largest wake parks in Germany and offers a lot of fun for pros and beginners. Directly connected to the facility, there is a nice campsite with lodges right on the lake. It's only five kilometers to the Haffkrug/ Scharbeutz Baltic Sea beach, and Lübeck is also just a stone's throw away. So, head to Süsel…

To be honest, the maintenance for a river so historically (at least in the last 20km) significant is sad. Paint is peeling everywhere, mosses and lichens are growing. The spring pool is so overgrown that you can hardly notice it at first glance, and even the frogs living there need some time to find a gap to dive in. Admittedly, many springs, even of more well-known rivers, are not overly attractive, but I had hoped for a little more here.

The Gleschendorf church, just over 750 years old, is a gem. Not only from the outside, but also from the inside. The paintings are particularly exciting because, to a large extent, they are not of a sacred nature, but depict plants, fruits, and birds of the region with their Latin names.

Wonderful little gem of a church! Definitely go inside too, especially the paintings of local plants and birds including the Latin name are fascinating and unknown to me from any other church!

BÄHM - THIS is how you make (marinated) fried herring! Best of Lübecker Bucht - by far. Juicy, huge, spicy, homemade! Awesome. Hard to eat without making a mess - so a well-intentioned tip: Stand with your legs apart and lean forward! Second tip: Don't come too late - it sells out quickly! Otherwise, the small shop visually offers more of the charm of the 60s, and seating (only outside) is also limited. But don't be blinded. The marinated fish specialties are grandiose! For the fried fish - admittedly - I would have other favorites.
