March 16, 2023, River Crossing

Though it is not a roaring river, there is an unavoidable river crossing at this point on the trail. There are sometimes some downed logs laying across the water, but be careful as these logs can get quite slippery. On a warm day, a quick wade through the water actually feels refreshing!

Sturdy shoes and nimble feet are best on this section of trail. From tight single-track to more open washes, this is a rocky area. It is cool to see how the rocks, shrubbery, and dirt change as you pass through different areas just on this one section of trail.

A super- fun trail right in the middle of town that is great both ways. Adobe Jack is an easy trail for Sedona standards. Some sections are intermediate. Watch this video to get a first impression: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mtc9v2q_LeM

A rock-featured trail with lots of technical challenges for advanced and experienced riders. This trail is fun! It connects Lower Chimney Rock to Tea Cup. The trail traverses below Capitol Butte – also known as Thunder Mountain – which is one of the highest summits in Sedona.

A great, challenging trail below Capitol Butte and Coffee Pot Rock. Best ridden from west to east. Can you spot the “teacup” on a tall tower to the far left of Coffee Pot? If yes, you know where the trail name comes from.

Lower Chimney Rock trail is a perfect warm up for Thunder Mountain trail. From certain angles the "chimney" looks a lot like three fingers pointing to the sky.
