The Daaden station in Rhineland-Palatinate was opened on March 1, 1886, as the terminus of the so-called Daadetalbahn. The line lost importance from the 1960s onwards due to the decline of local iron ore mines and was decommissioned by Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1993. Since 1994, Westerwaldbahn has been operating the line again with hourly services. Here is a detailed look at the station's development: + Beginnings (1883–1913): The line was initially built in sections for freight transport (1883) and later for passenger transport (from 1885 to Biersdorf, finally to Daaden in 1886) to connect the industrial plants in the Daadetal. During this time, freight traffic flourished (e.g., around 52,000 tons in 1913). + Decline (1965–1993): With the closure of the Füsseberg iron ore mine (1965) and other plants, freight traffic declined sharply. After dwindling passenger numbers in the following years, Deutsche Bundesbahn ended operations on the line on October 2, 1993. + New beginning & modernization (since 1994): On November 2, 1994, Westerwaldbahn took over passenger transport and modernized the station. Side tracks were dismantled, and the station was equipped with modern high platforms. https://www.westerwaelder-bahnen.net/index.php?nav=1000144&lang=1 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnhof_Daaden https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnstrecke_Betzdorf%E2%80%93Daaden
