Catamount Overlook is a great scenic overlook and sits at almost 9,500 feet in elevation. You will take in views of Lions Head, Black Mountain, and the Staunton Ranch below. On a clear day you can see Pikes Peak to the south & Mt. Bierstadt to the west.

This pretty, rock-lined pond is a nice place to rest or enjoy a picnic. Keep an eye out for marmots that live in among the rocks; they look sort of like giant, grizzled ground squirrels.

The West Meadow Trail provides an easier path to Elk Falls Overlook compared to the Chimney Rock Trail. It takes you through serene pine forests and open alpine meadows on the way up. The descent is enjoyable and fun. You can connect this trail to Chimney Rock Trail or Lion's Back Trail, creating a nice loop to reach the lookout and return.

From the Elk Range Trail you have amazing views of the mountains and valleys from up here. The road itself is a hard-packed dirt that takes you through a pretty exposed shelf along Mayhem Gulch.
