The KEERSLUIS or lock from 1927 was part of the canalization of the river that once flowed freely to the Zuiderzee. The Nieuwe Lindedijk was constructed in 1828 as a direct consequence of the flood disaster of February 3 and 4, 1825. A single lock was built into the dike. It was converted into a lock in 1870. A service dwelling was built on the north bank, which is still recognizable today. During the canalization, the course of the Linde was moved forty meters further south at this location. In the new course, the current lock with a double passage was built when the Nieuwe Lindedijk was cut through.

Het Veerhuis was built in 1821 on behalf of the cooper/merchant Klaas Koning, who became mayor of the municipality of Oldemarkt in 1829. It was built as a ferry house annex skipper's café on the harbor of the Mallegat canal, which was filled in in 1964 and excavated again in 1984. This canal formed the connection with the river Linde, which indirectly flowed into the Zuiderzee.
