What are some good circular hiking routes?

The region offers numerous loop trails so you can end your hike where you started. For a pleasant walk around the lake area, consider the Hiking loop from Sandy Beach. It's a relatively easy 6.4 km (4 mi) route with gentle elevation changes.

What are the options for more challenging or backcountry hiking?

For a more rugged experience, head to Savage River State Forest. It offers some of the best backcountry hiking in the area, with challenging routes like the 17-mile Big Savage Trail.
