Occasionally there are good classical concerts here and a classical festival in the summer.

August 10, 2026, Llandudno Promenade

The iconic two-mile Llandudno Promenade hugs North Shore between the Great and Little Orme headlands. Lined with grand Victorian hotels, it features sweeping sea views, a historic pier with classic Punch and Judy shows, a bandstand, and wide, flat walkways perfect for leisurely seaside strolls. Also memorial to my best friend who perished at sea with his elder brother and friends. Still think of Justin and Chris every time I visit home.

https://cadw.gov.wales/visit/places-to-visit/plas-mawr?lang=en Britain's most handsome townhouse of the golden Elizabethan age Never was a building better named. Plas Mawr, or the Great Hall, is quite simply the best-preserved Elizabethan townhouse in all of Britain. This was a golden age, when fabulously wealthy merchants invested in mansions, rich furnishings and lavish entertainment. Robert Wynn, third son of a local landowner, wanted a piece of the action. He entered the service of Tudor diplomats, travelling to the most magnificent royal courts of Europe. Making his fortune, he bought a mansion in Conwy for £200 and between 1576 and 1585 made it a celebration of his life, times and wealth. The house’s main front is discreetly hidden down a steep, narrow lane. So the High Street Gatehouse only hints at the scale within, as you ascend a series of terraces to explore 17 impressive rooms. You do not have to look far for clues about its creator. Wynn’s initials – R.W. – are found all over Plas Mawr’s vividly painted plasterwork. Through the centuries it became a courthouse, a school and even an art gallery. Perhaps this continuous use has allowed it to remain so miraculously intact. Four years of careful restoration have recreated the Elizabethan garden and returned all the light-filled rooms to their original glory.

"This fascinating building is thought to be the smallest church in the British Isles, seating only 6 people. It is named after St. Trillo, a 6th century Celtic saint who built his cell here. The age of the present building is not known, as it has been heavily repaired over the centuries. St. Trillo’s original cell is more likely to have been made of wood and wattle, although he may have built a wall of stones gathered from the beach to protect it from the wind." Several times of riding the promenade I have experienced quite hight winds, they always seem to be headwinds when riding in a westerly direction towards Colwyn Bay

The area at this point becomes slightly a rougher surface. It makes riding technical, constantly picking a decent ride line is essential and being alert. It is fun to ride on and satisfying at the end of the section.

Must be small, I didn't notice it. 😉
