August 18, 2024, Foxcote Reservoir

Lying in a rolling Buckinghamshire landscape of arable fields, pasture and woodland, Foxcote Reservoir is the kind of place that rewards patient visitors. Created in 1956 by damming a small tributary of the River Great Ouse, this site has become important for the numbers of wintering waterfowl, especially wigeon and coot. https://www.bbowt.org.uk/nature-reserves/foxcote-reservoir

I agree with all the above tips. UNFORTUNATELY when I cycled there on 11th Oct 2023, I was told by the manager of the cafe that it will be permanently closed on 22nd Dec 2023, and all the staff will loose their jobs. So if you want to sample the excellent food, you don't have much time do it.

A lovely coffee stop with breakfast sandwiches, breakfasts, light lunches and home made cakes. Cosy inside seating or plenty of outside seating some of it in an open sided barn shelter

A lovely stretch of road taking you over the Great Ouse river, The road takes you to the Buckingham Road *a busy and fast A road) but you can keep your time on Buckingham Road mercifully short by heading for the lane north toward Leckhamstead
