Don't just settle for the views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean. Turó d’en Galzeran hides a surprising history: at the end of the 18th century, it was used as a geodetic point in the work of measuring the meridian between Dunkirk and Barcelona that helped define the meter. It's hard to imagine those scientists climbing up here with their instruments over 200 years ago. Today, on a clear day, the reward is a spectacular panoramic view of the coast, the Vallès, Montserrat, and Montseny.

Un monument megalític datat entre el final del neolític i l'edat del bronze, considerat un dels jaciments prehistòrics més importants del Maresme.

Very nice. It looks so much better than it did years ago.

For centuries it was the Sunday getaway of the surrounding villages, and it is said that, on foggy days, the bell tower served as a guide to orientate oneself among the paths of the mountain range. Old meetings and gatherings were held on the esplanade, and you can still see the space where people sat to have breakfast after the climb. The access is direct and sustained, and the arrival offers a clear view of the sea and mountains that explains why Sant Mateu has always been a point of passage and a mandatory stop.

The most valuable thing about Sant Cebrià is not inside the hermitage. Its old Romanesque altar frontal, an extraordinary medieval piece, ended up far from here and is today preserved in the Museu Episcopal de Vic; in the hermitage there is a reproduction. It also had a Gothic altarpiece that ended up in the MNAC of Barcelona. After centuries of neglect, the building reached the 20th century with part of the apse practically collapsed and had to be recovered by local residents and organizations between the 70s and 80s. The hermitage survived; part of its treasures, on the other hand, are scattered across the museums of Catalonia.

One of the best viewpoints there is. A fairly quiet place with benches to rest. The narrow path is really nice although there are a lot of people.
