Hello, where do you leave your car? Could you explain how to get to this hike. The Sarek park seems impossible to access by car. We are young hikers and want to do just two days of bivouac and not 150km is this possible? Thank you for your feedback please

The view of the valley below the Skierffe is probably one of the most beautiful views in Scandinavia. If you are camping on the Kungsleden, you should definitely plan this detour if the weather is suitable. Below the summit you can camp on a plateau.

No, you do not need a permit to enter or hike in Sarek National Park. However, due to its remote and roadless nature, it is crucial to be self-sufficient and well-prepared. If you plan to stay in mountain cabins or use services in adjacent areas, separate fees or bookings may apply.

Given Sarek's remote and unpredictable environment, essential packing includes sturdy hiking boots, waterproof and windproof clothing, a map and compass (and knowing how to use them), a first-aid kit, sufficient food and water, a tent, sleeping bag, and cooking gear for multi-day trips. Be prepared for all four seasons in a single day.
Within Sarek National Park itself, there are no facilities, marked trails, or mountain cabins. However, in the surrounding areas, such as Padjelanta or Stora Sjöfallet National Parks, and along the Kungsleden trail which borders Sarek, you can find mountain cabins like Darreluoppal Cabins or STF Aktse Mountain Cabin, which can serve as bases for exploring the region.

Sarek is home to a rich array of wildlife, including moose, reindeer, wolverines, and brown bears. Birdwatching is also popular, with many species of raptors and waterfowl. While sightings are not guaranteed, the remote nature of the park increases your chances of encountering animals in their natural habitat, especially if you move quietly and observe from a distance.
