The Castell de Tàrrega was a medieval castle on a hill above the town of Tàrrega in Catalonia. It was probably built in the 11th century and played an important strategic role during the Reconquista. Today only a few remnants of the wall remain, but the castle hill offers a beautiful view over the town and the surrounding plain. The Church of Santa Maria de l’Alba in Tàrrega is a Baroque church with a single nave and interconnected side chapels, following the Jesuit model typical of the 17th century. Designed by Friar Josep de la Concepció and built on the site of the former church, it boasts a bright interior where the paintings by Minguell and the relics of the Holy Espines stand out.
