We walked the circular route into the gorge, the way there via the Camí Vell and the way back along the Torrent de Biniaraix. Afterwards, the circular route through the "Valley of Gold". Very rewarding!!

This section offers a relaxed path with beautiful views. In the 19th century, the Camí de Sa Costera was a notorious smugglers' route. Alcohol, tobacco, and textiles from Algeria or Marseille were landed at night. For a long time, smuggling was one of Mallorca's most important sources of income and supplies. But smugglers weren't the only ones operating here. It's said that a certain Miquel sa Rabassa lured ships with false lights, causing them to run aground on the rocks—in order to plunder their cargo. However, there is no evidence for this.

Fornalutx is essentially a very beautiful and award-winning little mountain village. However, it has undergone a complex but overly over-the-top renovation, giving it a somewhat sterile, Disneyland-like feel. The old charm with its beautiful patina is unfortunately no longer present. It's a shame, as the original character has been transformed into a tourist cliché.
