The gateway to the Gorges and the beginning of the gorge

A superb section, particularly enjoyable on the descent to Maury: from Lesquerde, the landscapes change from the Fenouillède massif, the view of the undulating Catalan mountains, the vineyards of Roussillon, then the valley and the Corbières massif, in a few kilometers on a road in fairly good condition and almost without traffic. A real cycling thrill.

Even the drive along the practically single-lane road is an adventure. There are only a few places to stop. However, the large parking lot is a good starting point for hiking into the gorge (warning: only experienced hikers can reach the bottom!) and to the hermitage.
