This pretty white half-timbered house is the former ferry house of the town of Arnis. It is located at the entrance to Arnis and immediately catches the eye with its well-kept appearance. It is on the left side when coming from Grödersby. The address is Neuer Damm 84. A memorial stone tells the following story about the house: "Living Arnis - Neuer Damm 84 The house was gifted to the town of Arnis in 1800 by a wealthy Kiel merchant. It was intended to serve as accommodation for the night watchman. When a ferry connection by punt was established between Grödersby and Arnis, the house quickly became a ferry house. It is also said to have housed a restaurant, whose landlord was named Petersen. In 1866-69, the new dam was built, making the ferry connection superfluous and the ferryman lost his job. Then Captain Luth took over the house. His sons were both doctors. Dr. Walter Luth was known not only for his profession but also as an Arnis chronicler, who, in addition to many newspaper articles, also wrote the book "Arnis, kleine Stadt mit großer Vergangenheit" (Arnis, a small town with a great past), which is unfortunately out of print. The painter Otto Soltau, a brother of Mrs. Luth, is also said to have lived in this house. Unfortunately, the house stood empty for many years and was only completely renovated in 1987. Now it greets visitors to the town as a jewel." https://www.schlei-ostsee-urlaub.de/data/schlei-ostsee-urlaub_2164.html

Dear people, it is currently still a harbor area and not a promenade, even if it looks like one!
