In my opinion, this is a terrible road for a road bike. I don't enjoy cycling back, but the "view" from my perspective isn't worth the ride, as most of it is trees and you only get a brief glimpse of the lake or the valley below, not to mention the Salève. The road is already very bad a few kilometers past Thoiry and only gets worse. I continued past the viewpoint, hoping to eventually reach a decent paved section. However, that didn't happen until the descent to Crozet. Of course, this isn't a problem on a gravel bike or mountain bike. I was glad I didn't get a flat tire.

Magnificent spot in Switzerland very close to Thoiry in France. The river is accessible here for a swim. Allondon is a protected waterway and the area has rich flora and fauna.

It is a bridge over the Rhône for vehicles and pedestrians. This bridge connects Switzerland and France. There is a station measuring river water quality at the base of the bridge.

The route is generally quite good, but there are some issues to consider. A significant portion is uphill, making the ride somewhat challenging. The road can also get extremely narrow in places, almost to the point of being impassable, with overgrown brambles on the sides. While it's quieter in the mornings, you might encounter pedestrians in the afternoon and on weekends, which makes it feel like some of the path is more suited for walkers than cyclists. Despite these challenges, the scenery is charming and the route is overall lovely.
