At the southern end of Mühlwörth, where the old town transitions into the Hain, the Regnitz rushes over a short rapid. The water emerges here from the so-called Walkspund – the historical water inlet of the Walkmühle, where the Bamberg cloth makers once compacted their wool fabrics with water-powered hammers. The current mill building dates from the mid-18th century and is a listed monument. Directly next to it lies the historic Lock 100, the last chamber of the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal before its confluence with the Regnitz, complete with its preserved lock keeper's house. The combination of foaming water, old mill, canal lock, and the mighty oaks of the adjacent Theresienhain makes this spot one of the most charming sections of the river path. 📍 Mühlwörth, turning point of the loop before the entrance to Theresienhain 💧 Rapid at the Walkspund, particularly impressive after rain or during floods 🏛️ Walkmühle of the cloth makers, 18th century, listed building ⚓ Lock 100 with lock chamber and keeper's house, a few steps away 🌳 Theresienhain: laid out in 1803 as a public park, one of Germany's oldest nature reserves 📷 Motif: Mill with rapid in the foreground, best viewed from the small jetty 🚶 From here, cross the bridge back towards Nonnenbrücke and Geyerswörth

The bridge is known for its impressive panorama. From this vantage point, one of the most beautiful views upstream of the former fishing village unfolds, with its medieval half-timbered houses and boat moorings situated directly on the water. In the distance, the striking Old Town Hall, built in the middle of the river, can be seen.

Beautiful view of Little Venice with its well-kept half-timbered houses. Not as crowded as the Lower Bridge.
