Fort de Feyzin is part of the defense system created after the 1870 war by General Séré de Rivières. It was one of the detached forts responsible for defending the city of Lyon. Thanks to his guns, he had to prevent the approach of the city to an enemy coming from the plain of the east of Lyon. It is possible today to visit the fort. It currently houses an equestrian center run and managed by the UCPA on behalf of the city of Feyzin The fort was intended for the defense of Lyon to the south. It also ensured the protection of the fort of Champvillard, the RN7, Solaize, Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon and the fort of Corbas. The Fort of Feyzin has throughout its history mainly served as a garrison place for the army, and the gendarmerie. The town became the owner in July 2003 and visits were organized there in particular for the 'fort en ballade' action and the European Heritage Days, with the discovery of the military path by the caponier, the postern staircase and the ditches, the entrance building and the overhead crane spanning a ditch, completely renovated as well as the botanical path. Thanks to the patronage of the Total foundation, the entrance building of the fort has been restored

The Solaize milestone is a column cut from choin de Fay, a variety of hard limestone extracted upstream of the Rhône, in the quarry of the hamlet of Fay, commune of Peyrieu in Ain. It bears an inscription naming the Emperor Claudius: Ti (berius) Claudius Drusi f (ilius) / Caesar August (us) / Germanicus, with the abbreviations giving its full title: pont (ifex) max (imus) tr (ibunicia) pot (estate) III / imp (erator) III co (n) s (ul) III p (ater) p (atriae) / VII, which corresponds to the year 43, the earliest known date indicating the start of Roman exploitation of this career. This terminal also constitutes an element of archaeological dating for the construction of the monuments of Lugdunum such as the ancient theater of Fourvière, with the use of the choin de Fay.
