Beautiful view of the valley.

Frankenbourg Castle has been officially closed since April 2025 due to rockfall. You can only get within a few hundred meters. Unfortunately, due to the dense forest, you can't see it. Instead, I recommend the southern Chateau de Saint Ulrich, which is a lovely hike from Ribeauville.

The entire loop is not suitable for beginners, it is not easy for all fitness levels since most of the trail contains rocks and gravel. A lot of uphill hiking with some strenuously narrow paths. I would categorize the hike as "intermediate"

Unfortunately there is no water here. But the hut has a room with a table and benches and a separate level bedroom. It has a door that can be closed. The hut looks neat. In front of the hut are two picnic tables.

The view of the Rhine plain and the Hochkönigsburg is very nice. There is also a bench to sit on. There are shadows too.

A wonderfully situated castle with magnificent views in all directions. In front of the castle is a flat meadow with a picnic table.
